Disavowed Anger In The Face Of Evil
Private! (Day 6 - An hour after the announcement)
His heart was so relieved with the way Aion mentioned Adam, about the only way he wanted that mention to go. He had never thought of himself as a good kisser, and maybe he wasn't, and it was all the emotions running through them both that pushed it. But that did not matter. It was nice to get it off his chest, to let it out in a way that made them both happy. And he was warm despite the cold surrounding them and the snowfall that descended upon them.
Looking at him the way he was now, the way he was stumbling much in the same way Amos was. It made him want to kiss him again.
"I-I've never been good at this either, and I'm not used to it. But, with you? I think I could." He could hear his heart over his words, sometimes stopping to make sure he was even saying them right.
He had been confident before, afraid, excited, and, of course, nervous.
But never as nervous as he was now. Holding hands with Aion, feeling their thumbs together, was the most exhilarating thing he had experienced here. A pick me up after learning Perante had died, and with this energy, together they should be able to find Chester and make sure he was safe.
With Aion, he knew he could keep that part of the promise.
"How about we tell Chester the good news when we find him?"
"Y'know, after a bit more." He said, leaning in again.

In the distance, there was warmth. Next to him, there was warmth, if he could reach out and take her hand for no reason other than you're in this shitty situation and so am I, doesn't that suck?
Here, right here was standing, he felt colder than he should.
[Daniel Ozanne's whispers continue from Lessons Whispered In Blood]
It felt like he was intruding on something secret and sacred, like walking in on someone praying or crying or... kissing? Even though he and Wendy were at a distance, too far away for people locked in their world for two to notice, it felt like they should turn around and vanish into the snow. That would have been the right move, but...
Daniel stepped forward, towards Aion, anyway.
Personally, he'd sooner kiss the icy ground and get frostbite on his tongue than kiss Aion, but that was just Daniel's opinion. Amos thought differently obviously -- had they been together this whole time? That was actually kind of sweet to think about, fuck. He glanced next to him, and for a moment he thought he saw Taylor in his peripheral vision, no Cedar, no, no, just Wendy. Nothing against Wendy, though.
The chill would soon bite through the gloves and nip at his fingertips. His hand twitched, but remained at his side.
Anyway, he wondered what they'd been up to. How was that head wound doing? You know, just to make sure his generosity on the first day wasn't wasted. He kinda wanted to talk to Amos, no, he wished he'd talked more to him before, he wished he talked to everyone more. He wanted to be a living yearbook, and currently he was full of holes and torn pages and missing photos, but even a complete yearbook couldn't give him the story of how someone could love Aion. Believe him, he tried. (Not very hard, but.)

"Yes, we need to make sure that Chester is safe and well, I guess we can tell him about us too." Aion was feeling too distracted when Amos leaned closer to him and he started to kiss him again, feeling warm despite the coldness that he could feel.
He was almost oblivious to their surroundings.
However, he could hear footsteps crunching in the snow. Getting closer and closer to them. He wondered if it was Adam coming back and he was tempted to scold him for going after Salem who had a freaking gun.
He pulled away from the kiss from Amos gently and he let go of one of his hands, making sure that other one was still holding Amos' right hand and squeezing it gently. He opened up as his mouth while turning towards where the footsteps were coming from and he paused when he saw who it was.
Daniel..?
He couldn't believe that he was actually seeing Daniel right now, but he felt a sense of relief coming over him. He was glad that he was still alive and it seemed that Daniel had a companion travelling with him. He was pretty sure that her was Wendy or something. Well, he was feeling a bit more positive than normal. Positivity wasn't really something that he had a lot in his life, but Amos was the main point of that right now.
"Oh, hey, Daniel!" He called out to him, smiling a little and he held up his hand to gave him a small, friendly wave. "I'm glad to see that you are okay..!"

They were at it again, and Amos had the intention to keep it going for a while. He did not know how much more of a chance they'd get, and he was intent on enjoying what he could get. He closed his eyes as he held onto his boyfriend's hands.
Boyfriend was the right word for this right? It felt right.
The footsteps called for a stop to the fun, and Amos could not hide how disappointed he was. But at least Aion was still holding his hand as they both looked to see who had shown up.
At first, Amos assumed it was Adam, but there was no remark about them kissing, so it could not have been.
Instead, it was Daniel? From the first day? Here?
"Uh, hey, Daniel," Amos said with a wave.
There was someone else there with him. Amos wracked his memory to remember who that was... Wendy? Someone he had not seen around here, but at the same time he hadn't heard of her, so maybe she was good?
"Long time no see."

(Wendy Kennedy, continued from Lessons Whispered In Blood)
Daniel and her had been travelling through the snowfield since the announcements ended. Where were they going, Wendy wasn't sure. Hopefully, somewhere they could remain safe. Then they came across these two sharing a kiss. It felt like the two of them were interrupting a private moment, so Wendy felt a bit awkward. Regardless, she did her best to put on a friendly face.
"Uh, hello," Wendy said, waving her hand slightly.

He froze. What was he expecting? A groan, confusion. Not hostility, maybe, but definitely not... friendliness? Aion was being nicer to him than they'd ever been to each other at school.
"Hey," he breathed. No other words came to him.
That'd been happening a lot, lately. Maybe it was the stressor of time always in the back of his head, always ticking down to the next day, the next announcement, the time of his death, or... (Well, let's not dream that far, what made Daniel special, anyway?)
"I..." He huffed. Despite himself, he smiled a bit. Not quite warm, not quite a smirk. "I never thought we'd say this, but I'm glad to see you too."

Aion felt glad that there didn't seem like there was any tension between him and Daniel. He had to make sure to greet Wendy as well and he gave her a nod and a wave too. "Hi, Wendy." He made sure to comment before turning his attention back to Daniel. "Hah. Never thought that you would say that, but thanks."
He was still holding onto Amos and he moved himself closer to Amos' side.
"Is it only you two travelling together right now?" He asked curiously. "Have you perhaps seen Chester Folk at all?"

Things seemed good; neither was trying to eat them a first chance, so that was a good sign. Still, they had to be cautious about this stuff. Amos hated that he had to, but he could not play dumb games after Perante.
Something like that… he just couldn’t.
When Aion mentioned Chester, Amos added after:
"If either of you have seen ‘em, it’d be good to know. We were supposed to meet up after some stuff." He squeezed Aion’s hand after that. It was comforting, something he needed while under the gaze of these two.

Chester Folk? From what Wendy could remember about him, he a left wing activist. He supported the LGBTQ+ community, which she could appreciate. Chester hadn't been mentioned on the announcements at all, so he likely isn't dead or a killer.
"No, we haven't seen him," answered Wendy, "Why? What's he up to?"

Daniel glanced over his shoulder, to Wendy, as she answered. He looked back, and nodded in agreement.
Speaking of which, who else did he have to meet? What else did he want to do? What else could he still do?

Aion didn't want to show the disappointment that he was feeling and he made sure to keep a neutral look on his face. He felt himself keeping calm when Amos continued to squeeze his hand and he cleared his throat awkwardly.
"Well, shit. That's a shame. Uh..." He paused for a brief moment and he thought over what to say next. "Oh, we were in a group with him and... and Perante. But well, you have likely heard what happened to Perante and we're worried about Chester being all alone out here somewhere. So we're trying to look for him."
He kicked at the snow again slightly.
"We've been trying to find anything that we could use.... to signal for help." He said honestly, letting out a sad sigh.

They hadn't seen him. Amos hid his disappointment as well as he could, made easier with Aion by his side. Still, it hurt to not know where he was. And nothing from either of these told him that they would lie about this, putting them back to square one on their search.
Might as well figure out any other place to go from here. Any building would be good; maybe he was back where they first met him.
"If you find out, 'mind telling us?"
Amos looked down on the snow, particularly at the bits Aion had kicked.
"After Perante, we don't want to find out the same way again."

Signal for help? Wendy wasn't sure if that was even possible. Not with the terrorists watching their every move. But, it was better than doing nothing but waiting around to die. Plus, she could sympathize wanting to make sure their remaining friend was safe, after losing one friend. From what she remembered, the announcements mentioned Perante had walked into a danger zone.
"Sure," said Wendy, "If I see him, I'll be sure to tell him."

Daniel nodded, again. So much to do, so little to do, and he felt so antsy, like there was something he should be doing. A scratchy feeling like he forgot to do his homework that was due today. But again, what could he do? (When was the last time he kissed someone?)
He avoided looking at Aion a bit too conspicuously, by looking at Amos, but there wasn't much he wanted to see. No, he wanted to hear. No, he wanted to speak.
"Aion, can- can we talk, actually?" When he asked, his voice could no longer hold its unwavering, kinda-sorta-maybe ironic know-it-all-ness (snideness). "I..."
He glanced down, nudged his boot to the side. It left behind a trail as it scraped aside the snow. A little bit of ice and rock peeked out.
"I dunno. I just don't want to die hating you for no good reason, y'know?"
(And what, end up loving the guy? Yeah no, that was never happening.) It couldn't hurt to try.

Aion actually felt surprised when Daniel seemed to want to talk to him and it seemed like maybe Daniel wanted to have some closure with him. Aion couldn't help but feel himself getting a bit giddy on the inside and he felt like they were about to get a weight off of the both of them. It felt so weird to think back to all the times when they just seemed to hate on each other. Since being on the island, he had been more focused on surviving and well, getting a boyfriend. But that was besides the point!
"Ah, well...." He glanced at Amos and he gave the taller boy a reassuring smile before letting go of his hand gently. "Yeah, sure! We definitely do need to chat, Daniel."
He paused for a moment. He glanced at Wendy and Amos. It was definitely something more private that he needed to discuss with him.
"Let's go over there for a bit." He said, pointing a bit farther away from the other two and he hoped that Daniel was going to tell him that he forgave him for how he was in the past.
