At some point during the spring semester of '25 (ideally before everyone is kidnapped but I'll entertain any facetious vibes for a post kidnapping mixer) a decently sized party is thrown as a mixer: on a music cue or a PA shout out or the sort, anyone dancing waves goodbye to their partner and finds someone else to dance / hang out with. The party would be fairly publicized and not gatekept, so most characters interested in showing could.
On an OOC level there will be a simple RNG determined pairing off of the characters who have been listed in this thread as attending. I might also try to implement a soft lock on preventing characters who have strong in-character ties (that I can parse from the relations trackers that may or may not be fully updated) or share existing threads from being paired off. And ideally none of the threads would be private threads!
The idea here is that we're trying to encourage characters to thread with other characters they might otherwise not have, and to get handlers to maybe see some angles for their character they might otherwise have not. The party would of course be a regular party and people can stay in their insular cliques if they so want/it makes sense for their character. But this is a good chance to thread with people it might otherwise not make sense to thread with and to maybe set up some more island vibes/pregame callbacks. Potential(TM), etc.
Feel free to list any characters you have that might attend! If there's enough interest the pair off rolls will be done when we have some more approved profiles and the shennanigans can start.
A couple of positions that'd be nice to fill:
- A character or a few characters who would make sense as having organized the whole shebang (I can offer one or two myself if I must, but I'd like to leave it open for someone else to take the venerated title of [their characters name]ball).
- Someone's house that it was actually hosted at, who doesn't necessarily have to be the organizer(s).
- Volunteers and/or paid folks (with walkie talkies) doing stuff like DJing/live music, handling security/safety, cleaning and restocking food and drinks, so on, which could be good for slotting in kids who might otherwise not show up.
